RM55, or “Red Fred” as he’s known, has been doing sterling duty over the summer months while our steam locomotive, C17 720 “Ken Biggs” is undergoing some heavy maintenance.
While Red Fred with trailer (PL 72) can only carry a modest amount of people, it is a journey back in time to when travel was done at a more sedate pace. And without air-conditioning!
Red Fred has recently undergone a thorough mechanical inspection and refresh by our volunteers, particularly Russell and Nev, and the bodywork is undergoing similar treatment from Ray. Please excuse Red Fred if he looks a little rough around the edges, it’s all in the name of keeping him ticking along for another 70 years!
Come up last Sunday of the month, from 10am, to experience rail travel “1930s style”
